1. Days: Athens, Poros

Day 1: Friday

Departure from Athens (Marina Zeas) – Poros

Your journey begins in Athens, where you will board the elegant Panorama. After settling in, we sail to Poros, known for its tranquil beauty and local wines. Enjoy your first wine tasting session onboard, guided by an expert sommelier.

2. Days: Poros, Nafplion, Nemea

Day 2: Saturday
Poros – Nafplion – Nemea

Sail towards Nafplion, a charming coastal town with Venetian architecture. From here, a short excursion takes you to Nemea, one of Greece’s most renowned wine regions. Explore local wineries and taste the iconic Agiorgitiko red wines. Enjoy some free time in Nafplio, one of the most attractive towns in mainland Greece, before we sail south along the coast of Arcadia, letting the anchor down for a swim stop as soon as possible. Dinner on board, paired with select wines from the Peloponnese.

3. Days: Monemvasia

Day 3: Sunday
Nafplion – Monemvasia

Discover the medieval town of Monemvasia, often called the “Gibraltar of the East.” This enchanting destination is known for its historic Malvasia wine. Tour the vineyards and learn about the revival of this ancient varietal. Monemvasia’s wealth came from its Malvasia (also known as Malmsey), so it’s safe to say wine meant a lot to the mediaeval town. Visit the vineyards at Monemvasia Winery who are re-establishing the island's wine fame. Lunch ashore on own arrangements and free time in the afternoon; exploration of the old town and taking a dip in the cooling waters are recommended. Tonight’s dinner is on board.

4. Days: Serifos

Day 4: Monday
Monemvasia – Serifos

Cruise to Serifos, a serene island celebrated for its rugged beauty. Visit a boutique winery producing organic wines and experience a wine-pairing dinner with freshly caught seafood. This beautiful, out of the way island, was one a major wine producer. Two interesting estates are leading a revival here using the island's rare indigenous grape varieties. Serifos promises to be the next big thing in the Cyclades after Santorini and Tinos. Morning swim stop and lunch on board before we reach Serifos. In the afternoon, we will visit the Chrysoloras Winery, in the northern part of the island. Return to Serifos port for dinner at a local restaurant / tavern. Midnight sailing to Santorini.

5. Days: Santorini

Day 5: Tuesday
Serifos – Santorini

Arrive at the world-famous island of Santorini, home to volcanic soil and exceptional Assyrtiko wines. Tour Santorini’s iconic wineries, visit their underground cellars, and enjoy sweeping views of the caldera as you sip on premium vintages. Santorini is right fully known as one of the top spots for white wine in Greece, and has local grape varieties of extraordinary quality. We’ll visit the top winery, Argyros, with century-old vines. Return on board for late lunch and depart early in the afternoon for Samos with a swimstop on the way, weather permitted. We‘ll enjoy dinner on board with wines from the Santorini grapes .

6. Days: Samos

Day 6: Wednesday
Santorini – Samos – Fourni

Sail to Samos, renowned for its sweet Muscat wines. Enjoy a guided tour of Samos’ vineyards and learn about its unique winemaking techniques. Later, stop at the tranquil island of Fourni for a relaxing evening.  Fourni Isles, rarely visited by tourists and an ideal spot for swimming thanks to its largely untouched beaches. Dinner tonight is paired with wines from Chios and Ikaria, both prized wines in ancient times.

7. Days: Tinos

Day 7: Thursday
Fourni – Tinos

Explore the serene island of Tinos, a hidden gem in the Aegean. Tinos is known for its artisanal wines and organic farming practices. Savor local wines and enjoy the island’s traditional hospitality. Tinos is also a holy island, said to be home to more than 700 churches. It’s also another wine hotspot, known for its Assyrtiko grape; one with extraordinary quality when grown in soils rich with volcanic ash, such as those on Tinos. In the morning we’ll visit emerging star winery, Volacus, before we set sail and moor in a nearby bay for lunch, swimming, and a tasting of Greek wines from international grape varieties.

8. Days: Athens

Day 8: Friday
Tinos – Athens (Marina Zeas)

Return to Athens, marking the end of your unforgettable wine cruise. Relish a farewell breakfast onboard before disembarking.

Variety Cruises are pleased to announce the first of our new Wine Cruises of Greece. This journey takes us to many of the Greek wine hotspots including Nemea, Santorini, and Tinos. Wine and the making of it is central to this voyage, but as we follow its trail we’ll also discover the limestone crags and wild mountains of the Peloponnese, the breathtaking views of Santorini, and the quieter villages of the Cyclades and Eastern Aegean islands.

We’ll meet leading winemakers, taste at top wineries, and enjoy dinners paired with a specially chosen selection of wines - each exploring the superb native grape varieties of Greece’s many diverse regions.

This exploration will illustrate how the wines of Greece have emerged as some of the most interesting and exciting in the world over the past 25 years, with changes at least as profound as those that have taken place in Chile and New Zealand.

Our on board chef will design classic and regional fare, matching intense local flavours with the unique and varied wines.
