Tour Program
Day 1 | Athens (Marina Zea – Piraeus) – Nafplion

Good Friday | Welcome & Greek Easter Traditions

Join us and your fellow explorers at Marina Zea in Athens for a welcome drink aboard. Meet your archaeology expert and guest lecturer, Evgenia Alexiou, whose in-depth knowledge of Greek and Byzantine history will enrich this unforgettable Greek Easter sailing cruise.

In the afternoon, we set sail towards Nafplion, arriving late in the evening. Dinner is served onboard, followed by an overnight stay in port.

This evening also offers a unique opportunity to witness Greek Orthodox Good Friday traditions. Locals decorate the Epitaphios (the symbolic bier of Christ) with flowers before it is carried through the streets in a solemn candlelit procession during the Service of Lamentation — a deeply moving and authentic cultural experience.

Day 2 | Nafplion – Holy Saturday

Ancient Epidaurus & Easter Resurrection Ceremony

This morning, we explore Ancient Epidaurus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through the sacred landscape surrounding the Temple of Apollo, pass the ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite, ancient olive groves, and arrive at the world-famous Ancient Theater of Epidaurus, celebrated for its extraordinary acoustics.

Lunch is served onboard as we return to Nafplion, the first capital of modern Greece, where we remain overnight.

Late tonight, experience the highlight of Greek Easter celebrations. At midnight, the priest proclaims “Christos Anesti” (Christ is Risen) and the Holy Flame is shared among worshippers. Church bells ring joyfully while ships in the harbor sound their horns in celebration.

Upon returning to the ship, we serve traditional Magiritsa soup, followed by the cracking of red Easter eggs (tsougrisma) — symbols of rebirth, luck, and community. Overnight sailing to Monemvasia.

Day 3 | Monemvasia – Easter Sunday

Byzantine Heritage & Traditional Easter Feast

We arrive early in Monemvasia, the spectacular medieval fortress town often referred to as the “Gibraltar of the East.” On the pier, our Hotel Manager and Chef prepare a traditional Easter lamb barbecue, marking this special day in true Greek style.

Enjoy a festive morning with Greek music, traditional Easter snacks, and local wine. You may visit the castle town either in the morning or later in the afternoon (recommended), wandering through its cobbled streets, historic churches, and remarkably preserved Byzantine and Venetian architecture.

Overnight sailing at sea.

Day 4 | Gythion – Easter Monday

Mani Peninsula & Dirou Caves (Optional Excursion)

Early morning arrival in Gythion, once the main naval port of ancient Sparta. Join an optional excursion to the rugged Mani Peninsula, including a visit to the breathtaking Dirou Caves, famous for their impressive stalactites and stalagmites.

Continue to explore ancient Gythion before heading to Areopolis, a charming historic town at the heart of Mani. Known for its dramatic landscapes and stone tower houses, Mani offers a unique insight into southern Greece’s culture and history.

Overnight sailing to Pylos.

Day 5 | Pylos - Easter Tuesday

PYLOS

Morning arrival into Pylos port - a charming seaside town with a rich history, including the pivotal 1827 naval battle that led to Greek independence. On an optional excursion, visit the ruins of Nestor’s Palace, a Mycenaean-era site with royal apartments and ancient frescoes. Then stop in Hora to explore an impressive archaeological museum showcasing artifacts from the palace. Overnight at sea.

Day 6 | Katakolon – Olympia

Birthplace of the Olympic Games

Early morning arrival in Katakolon. An optional excursion takes you to Ancient Olympia, one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore the Temple of Zeus, once home to one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, walk through the original Olympic Stadium, and visit the renowned Archaeological Museum of Olympia. After lunch, continue to the Museum of the History of the Olympic Games.

Overnight sailing to Itea.

Day 7 | Delphi – Corinth Canal – Athens

Oracle of Apollo & Corinth Canal Crossing

This morning, join an optional excursion to Delphi, the spiritual center of the ancient Greek world. Built dramatically on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, Delphi was home to the Oracle of Apollo, attracting pilgrims from across the Mediterranean. Explore the ruins and visit the on-site museum.

Return to the ship for the spectacular Corinth Canal crossing, one of Greece’s greatest engineering achievements. In the evening, enjoy the Captain’s Farewell Dinner onboard.
