FAQ – Cabin Charter & Gulet Cruises

FAQ: Cabin Charter Turkey

Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Cabin Charter Turkey, Gulet Cabin Cruises, and Mediterranean yacht holidays with Blue Voyage Trips.

What Should I Bring?

We recommend bringing soft luggage or a backpack, as cabins are compact and storage space is limited. Hard suitcases are not practical onboard. A small daypack is also useful for shore excursions.

Suggested packing list:

  • Swimwear (at least two sets recommended)
  • T-shirts, shorts, and lightweight clothing
  • A light jacket or warmer layer (especially for spring and autumn evenings)
  • High SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat
  • Aloe Vera gel for sunburn relief
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Snorkelling gear (optional – equipment is shared onboard)
  • Sleeping bag (if you plan to sleep on deck during cooler months)
  • Comfortable shoes for shore visits (barefoot is required onboard; soft-soled deck shoes are acceptable)

Please note: Towels are not provided, so bring one for bathroom use and another for sunbathing.

Toiletries & Medications

Please bring your own personal toiletries and medications. We recommend packing:

  • Basic toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, soap, etc.)
  • High SPF sunscreen
  • Prescription medications
  • Antihistamines or cold/flu medicine
  • Pain relief tablets
  • Insect repellent
  • Basic first aid supplies
  • Spare prescription glasses or contact lenses (if needed)

When Is the Best Time to Go?

  • May & October: Ideal for peaceful cruising, mild temperatures, and fewer crowds.
  • June & September: Warm weather with comfortable temperatures for sightseeing and swimming.
  • July & August: The hottest months, perfect for swimming and sun lovers.

The Mediterranean climate makes Cabin Charter cruises enjoyable throughout the season.

Are Children Allowed?

Yes. Blue Voyage Trips offers:

  • Adult-only cruises
  • Family-only cruises
  • Mixed-age cruises

On mixed-age departures, the minimum age is 6 years old. Family cruises have no minimum age. Please check before booking if travelling with children.

What Meals Are Included?

Most Cabin Charter Turkey tours operate on a full-board basis, including:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon tea
  • Dinner

All meals are freshly prepared onboard. Greece, Croatia, and Montenegro itineraries may differ, so please review your specific tour details.

Can Dietary Requirements Be Accommodated?

Yes. We can cater for most dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, halal, kosher, and other special requests. Please inform us at the time of booking.

Is Drinking Water Provided?

Yes, drinking water is provided during meals. We encourage guests to bring a reusable water bottle.

What Are the Sleeping Arrangements?

Cabins vary depending on the gulet and may include double, twin, triple, or quad configurations. All cabins include:

  • Private bathroom
  • Hot shower

Solo travellers will share with another solo guest unless a single supplement is booked. Cabin preferences are noted but cannot always be guaranteed.

Can I Upgrade My Cabin?

Cabin upgrades may be available depending on availability. Please contact us before departure to check options.

Can I Change My Departure Date?

Date changes may be possible depending on availability. Fare differences or administrative fees may apply. In some cases, payments can be transferred to another departure date.

Is There Enough Space for Luggage?

Cabins are compact. We strongly recommend bringing small or medium-sized soft bags.

Are Towels Provided?

No. Towels are not provided for bathroom or swimming use. Please bring your own bath and beach towels.

Can I Bring My Own Food or Drinks?

You are not allowed to bring drinks onboard, including water, due to licensing regulations. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase from the onboard bar.

You may bring your own snacks such as crisps, biscuits, or similar items.

Can I Pay My Bar Tab by Credit Card?

Bar payments are generally settled in cash on the final day of your cruise. Some ports may not have ATMs, so we recommend planning ahead.

Are There Power Sockets Onboard?

Most gulets provide 12V or 24V electricity, suitable for charging phones and cameras. When docked in harbour, 220V electricity is typically available. Generator times vary depending on the boat.

How Many Crew Members Are Onboard?

Most gulets operate with three crew members:

  • Captain
  • Chef
  • Skipper

Crew size may vary depending on the yacht size and operational requirements.

Will the Crew Speak English?

Yes. At least one crew member will always be able to communicate in English to ensure smooth communication throughout your cruise.

Where Are Other Passengers From?

Our guests are primarily from English-speaking countries, as well as Europe and Asia. Our cruises welcome travellers from around the world.

Can I Choose a Quiet or Party Cruise?

We do not categorise cruises as “party” or “quiet.” The atmosphere depends on the mix of guests onboard. When possible, we consider age groups and special requests when allocating guests to boats.

Do I Need to Book in Advance?

Yes. Cabin Charter cruises are very popular, especially during peak summer months. We strongly recommend booking in advance, as departures can be fully booked several weeks ahead.

What Activities Can I Enjoy Onboard?

During your Gulet Cabin Cruise, you can enjoy:

  • Swimming in secluded bays
  • Snorkelling
  • Paddleboarding (on selected boats)

Is Snorkelling & Water Sports Equipment Available?

Most gulets provide basic snorkelling equipment and some flotation devices. Equipment is shared among guests and varies by boat. If you prefer personal gear, we recommend bringing your own.

Where Can I Charge My Phone or Camera?

All gulets allow charging of small electronic devices such as phones and cameras. Larger appliances (hair dryers, straighteners, laptops) may only be used when 220V power is available in harbour or when the generator is running. Generator schedules vary by boat.

Are Crew Gratuities Expected?

Tipping the crew is customary at the end of your cruise. While discretionary, 5–10% of the charter fee is typical in Turkey. Tips are usually given to the captain, who distributes them among the crew.
