Board the Gemaya at Lavrion Port. Embarkation at Lavrion port between 14:30-15:30. Lavrion is not only the closest port to Athens international airport, but it also boasts a rich and fascinating history. Begin or end your adventure discovering this picturesque port, once a booming mining town. Situated on a small bay opposite the island of Makronissos, a former exile site for political prisoners, Lavrion still holds a unique charm and offers many sightseeing opportunities and set sail towards Cape Sounion, home to the ancient Temple of Poseidon. Enjoy a welcome dinner on deck as the sun sets over the Aegean Sea. Continue to Aegina, renowned for its pistachio orchards and charming harbor.
Explore Aegina’s archaeological sites, including the Temple of Aphaia. After lunch, sail to Epidaurus, famous for its ancient theater with exceptional acoustics. Attend an optional evening performance if available.
Depart for Porto Cheli, a cosmopolitan resort town. Engage in water activities such as kayaking and paddleboarding in the clear waters. Enjoy hiking the area or simply bask in the sun and return to Gemaya for a delicious lunch. In the evening relax with a cocktail under the stars at the many lovely cafes and bars. Overnight at port.
Sail to Nafplion, Greece’s first capital. Explore the Palamidi Fortress and wander through the old town’s Venetian architecture. The Archaeological Museum, the War Museum, former site of the first Military School of Greece or the Komboloi Museum, showcasing an impressive collection of worry beads. Travel into the history of Greek komboloi and participate in an optional workshop to make your own. Enjoy a romantic evening at one of the most elegant Greek cities.
Cruise to Spetses, known for its maritime history and elegant mansions. Lunch on board. Visit the Bouboulina Museum. Cars are not allowed on Spetses island but you can enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride along the waterfront. Take a romantic walk around the island and when the sun sets discover its glamorous nightlife, there are plenty of bars, discos, and bouzouki clubs on the island. Overnight at port.
Head to Hydra, a car-free island celebrated for its preserved architecture and vibrant arts scene. Hydra, voted by UNESCO “Best preserved island of the Mediterranean”. Enjoy a leisurely walk at one of the most cosmopolitan and equally romantic destinations in Greece. Hydra is an architectural reserve, free of motor vehicles, and summer home to many international celebrities. Late afternoon we start our return to Athens, anchoring at Cape Sounion to enjoy the farewell dinner under the mesmerising “Temple of Poseidon”. Perched at the edge of the cliff, the ancient sanctuary is one of the most important monuments of the golden age of Athens. Hike to Profitis Ilias Monastery or explore the island’s boutiques and galleries.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast as you sail back to Lavrion Port, disembarking with cherished memories of your Saronic adventure.
