Cape Verde Cruise Highlights

Taste the Famous Grogue in Santo Antão

One of the most authentic experiences in Cape Verde is tasting Grogue, the traditional sugarcane rum produced in small local distilleries. Visitors can discover the artisanal production process and sample the famous Ponche cocktail, a local drink made with grogue, lime and molasses.

Fogo Volcano – The Island of Fire

The island of Fogo is dominated by its spectacular active volcano Pico do Fogo. Visitors can explore dramatic lava landscapes and the crater village of Chã das Caldeiras, where unique vineyards produce the famous Manecon wine.

Fogo is also known for its excellent coffee, considered by many connoisseurs as one of the finest coffees in the world.

Mindelo – Cultural Heart of Cape Verde

The lively port city of Mindelo on São Vicente island is the cultural center of Cape Verde. With its colorful colonial architecture, lively markets, music bars and artistic heritage, Mindelo offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the country’s rich cultural identity.

The city is also closely associated with legendary singer Cesária Évora, whose soulful music introduced Cape Verde to the world.

Tour Program
Day 1: Sal Islanrd (Palmeira)

PALMEIRA (SAL ISLAND)

Palmeira, Sal (3-4PM) Ben Vindo! This means welcome in Portuguese, and we are thrilled to welcome you to Cape Verde. Join us on board at the port of Palmeira in Sal and familiarize yourself with your floating home for the week, while mingling with your fellow adventurers over delightful housewarming cocktails. We will share a communal dinner on board, followed by a midnight sail to Boavista. Overnight we will be at sea.

Day 2: Boa Vista Island

SAL REI (BOA VISTA ISLAND)

Boa Vista is the island with diverse wonders: volcanic terrains, pristine sandy shores, shimmering ocean waves. Embrace the easygoing lifestyle at one of the numerous beaches, or join us for an optional excursion to uncover the authentic elements of island culture: pottery, vibrant architecture, and local farming. We will gather for lunch at a local eatery (make sure to try the specialty *homemade goat cheese*) before we set sail for our overnight journey to Santiago. Overnight at sea.

Day 3: Praia

PRAIA (ILHA DE SANTIAGO)

Arriving early in the morning at Santiago, the largest island in the Cape Verde archipelago. We understand your desire to plunge into the inviting waters, and this morning presents a perfect chance. Enjoy a leisurely morning followed by lunch on board, then consider joining our optional afternoon excursion to Cidade Velha, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Established in 1462, this was the first city founded on the islands and once served as the capital. Later in the evening, we will embark on an overnight journey at sea.

Day 4: Sao Felipe

SAO FELIPE (FOGO ISLAND)

Our arrival on the island reveals the striking silhouette of Fogo Volcano. With "Fogo" translating to fire in Portuguese, the name’s origin is quite evident. Today's optional adventure spans a full day, starting with a trek to the volcano's summit to stroll along the crater's rim, followed by lunch in Chã das Caldeiras, the village nestled within the crater. This is an unforgettable journey that does not end here. In the afternoon, we'll explore the delightful San Felipe before embarking on our voyage to Sao Vicente. We will spend the night at sea.

Day 5: Mindelo

MINDELO (SAO VINCENTE ISLAND)

Mindelo, Sao Vicente, serves as a vibrant cultural center celebrated for its traditional music, art, and distinct architecture. Participate in our optional walking tour, winding through enchanting colonial avenues and immerse yourself in the vibrant sights, sounds, and culinary delights. Explore the National Museum of Handicrafts to gain insight into the profound island heritage. Additionally, Mindelo is renowned for its dynamic nightlife; experience it tonight as we stay overnight in this picturesque port.

Day 6: Porto Novo

MINDELO (SAO VINCENTE ISLAND) - PORTO NOVO (SANTO ANTAO)

With merely 10 KM separating these two islands, the morning sail from Sao Vicente to Santo Antao is a breeze. Santo Antao is the most lush of all the Cape Verde Islands; allow us to reveal its vibrant core - Valley Paul - on our optional excursion. A region where passion fruit, mangos, and sugarcane flourish, and where the local spirit, Grogue, is crafted from the sugarcane. Feel free to sample some - but moderate your intake as we still have the chance to explore the Valley of Ribeira before enjoying dinner back on board. Overnight will be spent in port.

Day 7: Porto Novo

PORTO NOVO (SANTO ANTAO)

Today we will explore the stunning south west region of the island, characterized by its rugged volcanic terrain and dry scenery. Join us for an optional half day adventure as we traverse through awe-inspiring volcanic formations, fertile crop fields, and tranquil villages. Discover the unique allure of Lagedos and its commitment to eco-tourism. We will spend the night on the water as we make our way to Sal.

Day 8: Palmeira

PALMEIRA (SAL ISLAND)

As we complete our journey (in a circle!) returning to Sal, it is time for breakfast and farewells. For now, we hope to see you aboard one of our other adventures soon.
